Commercial spaces such as factory floors, workshops and warehouses require efficient and effective heating to make sure that staff and visitors feel comfortable and equipment is maintained at a safe temperature.

It is well known that substantial industrial spaces such as factories and warehouses are hard to heat. Each space differs in purpose, size, construct, style and the amount of foot traffic passing through each day changes constantly. With this in mind it is crucial that professional heating experts are used in the installation process of commercial space heating systems. This will mean that factory owners are being provided with a safe and effective heating solution.

Saving energy

Back in December 2020, a Reuters report observed that: “Global progress toward energy efficiency has slowed to its lowest rate in 10 years due to subdued prices amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the International Energy Agency said on Thursday, dealing a setback to efforts to curb climate change.

“As a result of the crisis and continuing low energy prices, energy intensity is expected to improve by only 0.8% in 2020, roughly half the rates (last year), to levels last reached in 2010…”

The situation in 2022 is now very different indeed. The cost of energy has increased dramatically, exacerbated by the conflict in Ukraine and other factors. The need for energy efficient solutions in transport, the workplace, the home and other areas is not only vital for reaching net zero carbon reduction targets; it is also a critical element in reducing household energy bills and the operating costs of businesses in every sector. Saving energy in industrial and commercial heating and air conditioning will be a major priority for business owners and managers for this year and beyond.

The quest for efficiency

Energy efficiency has always been recognised by leading HVAC manufacturers and suppliers as a key element in how they assess and test the performance of their products. As we state on our website page dealing with commercial heating applications:

“In view of their high efficiency, our products and solutions offer a fast return on investment and effectively save energy and thus costs.”

Efficiency in energy use should be built into every HVAC product that is manufactured in order to meet the requirements of the Energy-Related Products (ErP) Directive and other international quality standards. Energy efficiency also needs to be strongly featured in the planning, configuration and installation of every system installed. For instance, decentralised heating systems allow for heating to be applied to specific zones such as workstations in warehouses while leaving out areas where heating is not required.

Another important area in which pioneering developments have been made is in heat recovery, turning potentially wasted exhaust gas into reusable heat. Once again, this energy efficient solution both saves on operating costs and delivers benefits to the environment.

In these volatile times for the energy markets, the quest for efficient use of energy is of paramount importance. Schwank is deeply committed to make this a leading priority in our product development and system design.

Commercial heating solutions

High quality energy efficient commercial space heating devices provide many significant benefits for businesses, such as low running costs, high energy saving capabilities and a potential fast return on investment.

These systems can be configured to provide individually programmed heated zones throughout a building, offering ideal temperatures for both the workforce and products in storage. The versatility of well-planned and professionally installed decentralised commercial space heating solutions will provide customers with the flexibility they require for changing business requirements and the ability to minimise operating costs and carbon emissions. These are objectives that are at the heart of developments in the HVAC sector.
