Although tube heaters and plaque heaters both use infrared radiant heating, their operating principles differ. Within a gas radiant tube heater, a gas and air mixture burns inside a long steel radiant tube. As the tube reaches temperatures of approximately 580°C, it emits infrared radiation that travels through the air before warming people, equipment and surrounding surfaces directly.

Like the sun’s rays, infrared energy passes through the air without heating it first. Heat is only released when the rays reach a surface, creating an efficient and comfortable balance of radiant and ambient warmth. Because tube heaters generate heat exactly where it is required, separate heating zones can be created across warehouses and industrial buildings, reducing unnecessary energy consumption in unused areas.

Compared with conventional heating systems, radiant heating can typically deliver energy savings of between 30% and 50%, while improving occupant comfort and reducing operating costs.
